WHAT IS YOUR COUNSELING STYLE?
I've found that it can limit a client's experience by staying strictly within one counseling style. Typically, I use an eclectic blend of various theories, techniques, and modalities to accomplish your goals. I lean heavily on narrative, solution-focused, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
WILL I HAVE TO LAY DOWN ON A COUCH WHILE YOU STARE AT ME?
This may be the biggest misconception of counseling, but by all means - if you want to lay on the couch while we chat - go for it!
HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?
Typically 50-55 minutes, once a week. We can adjust this to best meet your goals. How often you come to see me is completely up to you.
SO....WHAT IS SEX THERAPY?
Simply, it depends. Like any reason someone would seek out counseling, what we do in session will vary based on your concerns and goals. Some sessions we may take time to learn about a particular subject, engage in experiential activities, or simply talk and explore your past, your thoughts, and your feelings.
WHAT ISSUES DO YOU TREAT?
I am lucky to have experience working with a wide variety of clients. The following list is a sampling of client situations that I am knowledgable at addressing: depression, suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts, sexual desire discrepancy, LGBTQ+, infidelity, pornography addiction, kink, intersections of religion and sexuality, post-pregnancy sexuality, anxiety, divorce, self-harm, sexual abuse and trauma, diminished or lack of desire, vaginismus, erectile functioning, etc.
